Beginning at 2 pm, a free cookout will commence at the Malibu 7 parking lot on Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. as a social gathering in which community members and Walk for Education participants will network and reinforce information provided during the walk.

Walk for Education participants seek to engage the East Knoxville community by establishing positive relationships between UT students and East Knoxville community members. Participants will share information about resources and academic programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The Walk for Education ultimately aims to build and strengthen the relationship between the UT and East Knoxville communities through visibility and open dialogue regarding educational opportunities.

Walk for Education co-sponsors include UT’s National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
