Time Management....It's Kinda Important

If you're like me you probably got straight C's last semester, and if you've never gottten straight Cs in your life (like myself) you're totally devasted because dang that's just average ya know? I've gotten F's and D's with some C's and A's & B's BUT just straight Cs....for some reason that's worse than a one F to me.

AND if that is the case, you being like me with the straight C's swag or D's and F's swag....you probably did something wrong. Terribly wrong.

What you may ask? Could be a number of things but for the sake of my post lets just say it was time management. Because time management is kinda the root of success in college. Even if you're not so intelligent...college isnt' that hard you just gotta manage your time and that's where this post comes in. SO WHAT MUST YOU DO TO BE SAVED?

LOL. Just kidding that's another post....TIME MANAGEMENT. COME WITH ME!

Now effective time management involves the following elements:

PLANNING & GOAL SETTING

  • Write down on a calendar when all of your major assignments for the semester are due

  • At the end of each week, write down all of the assignments due in the next 2 weeks

  • Set realistic goals for completing these assignments

  • Understand that the guideline given for studying on a college level is 2-3 hours of studying for each hour in class

TAKE ACTION

  • Limit your "To Do" list to 3 things

  • Do something - Try working on an activity that is related to class work to help you focus on "Studying", even if that activity isn't exactly what you "need" to be working on right now. (Recopying notes is a good task to help you settle in to doing your "homework").

  • Set time limits - try using your alarm to help keep you on track. For example, choose one task and set a time limit for when you must have started that task, or if you want to take a 15 minute break, set the alarm to tell you when time is up.

USE TIME EFFECTIVELY

  • Know yourself & your own schedule

  • Study earlier in the day

  • Study during "breaks" between classes

  • Choose your study environment carefully

  • Repeating/revisting material in the first 3 days after you are first exposed to it greatly increases your knowledge of & ability to recall the material.

CREATE PATTERNS THAT WORK

  • Create a "ritual" for studying (i.e. - copy your class notes first)

  • Make studying a "habit" (Try for a week or two to complete all of your assigned reading before hanging out with friends, watching TV, and or surfing the Internet.)

  • Reward yourself for meeting goals.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR MIND & BODY

  • Avoid alcohol (One night of heavy drinking (3 or more drinks) can impair your ability to think abstractly/critically for up to 30 days

  • Get "enough" sleep (8-9.25 hours per night)

  • Eat breakfast

  • Exercise

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY....KEEP GOD FIRST! AND NEXT IMPORTANTLY (bet you never heard that one before) check Knoxarazzi.blogspot.com EVERYDAY or you'll fail college. It's true!
